Hi I’m Pablo “Pabs” Berlanga Boemare.
I’ve been in nature and space for more than 8 years. Currently, I’ve dropped out from the uni to set up a robotics lab at École Polytechnique mentored by AMI working on 1) engineering self-replicating machines and 2) infra for robots to operate autonomously in places with no wifi and no electricity. You can reach out to me at berlanpa [at] gmail . com
In the past:
- I put a robot on the world’s closest point to the sun. 10 million views across 50 news and socials across the world. Everest and Olympus Mons will come.
- I spun-up a non-profit that brought the first autonomous computers running on solar, starlink and local models to Congo, Amazon, Andes and Himalayas part of a 100 node network with Microsoft and WWF
- worked with XAI on the first rust wrapper for open broadcasting engine, used for AI to understand video at optimal latency
- worked through 2000 papers, and self-taught an undergrad’s worth of robotics
- ran an experiment in a $10 million mansion with 50 cameras, an AI watching founders and parallelised that with bonobos in salonga
- built a boat used to rescue refugees in the Mediterranean
- was brought up on an island of 20,000 people in the Pacific, lived in Africa for a bit and now operate between Paris, San Francisco and Shenzhen.
My goal is to build Von Neumann machines to seed life on other planets. I believe going multiplanetary is our only hope. I also think robots will save Earth and nature.
My current world view is a synthesis of ideas i call the rhetoric of life, i like ideas in camus, romain gary, prometheanism, accelerationism, humanism, sumak kawsay and rousseau’s noble savage.
